New fridge, ice maker consistently unreliable

bought a new house with all samsung appliances. ice maker froze up 4 months in, defrosted it, then found out it freezes up every 2 months. i use the defrost feature of the fridge yet the problem continues to plague the fridge. this fridge was not cheap, sad that something simple like ice cannot be trusted to work.

Worst Refrigerator - Looks amazing - poorly built

i really loved this refrigerator for the first year of having it then problems started - luckily i bought the extended warranty from bestbuy. there is a very loud noise which is caused by a flaw in the ice maker - i have had the refrigerator serviced 3 times already. icemaker replaced, fan replaced - and still the noise is driving me crazy. it literally sounds like a lawn mower.

this refrigerator was bought on june 7th 2016. it worked perfectly upon till now. the temp on the display panel keeps flashing and the refrigerator doesn't cool. the freezer does work fine though. i give it a 3 star for the first four years problem free, but i thinkba refrigerator thats cost over $2k should give more that 4yrs.

DON'T BUY THIS FRIDGE!!

our main problem is the well known "ice blocking evaporator fan" problem. we noticed a noise that stopped when the door was opened. after several days, the noise stopped but the fridge stopped cooling. this was not covered in the 5 year warranty, so we had someone out to fix it (at great cost). the problem happened again a few months later and we had it fixed it again. now, the problem has returned in full force. we do a lot of "forced defrosts" and occasionally the fridge stops working for half a day. i refuse to put more $$ into this piece of junk and am currently looking for a new fridge. we're in complete shock that this $2500 fridge is dead in 5 years. we will never buy another samsung product again.

this fridge works just fine for our family of five. fits very nicely in our kitchen and looks sharp with the rest of the stainless steel and black appliances. only gripe i have is that it takes a few seconds to engage the ice maker once selected and depressing the lever. not the end of the world as we are not huge on "everything with ice." shop around for filters and be careful what you are buying as there are quite a few that seem to work, but end up leaking water everywhere. you'll know you have a good one when there are two rubber seals/gaskets around the filter nozzle. all in all, love having this fridge full and chilling - with very low noise (barely hear it on).

i've had this refrigerator for about 2 years. it worked fine for the first year then out of nowhere the ice make froze over and ice had gotten stuck. i though maybe it was something that might would happen that one time and be cleared up after i cleaned it out, but i was wrong. after that experience it has happened at least once a month! i'm so sick and tired and going to get ice and nothing coming out and to look in and see the ice maker frozen over. after reading more about it and seeing more reviews with the same problem, i see there is absolutely no solution to this problem. will not be buying another samsung refrigerator.

I've had this for 2 years, I was happy with at first, but then the problems started. The most frequent is that an ice cube gets jammed. Easy enough to fix, pull out the ice container and pop out the jammed cube, but you discover this because it stops making ice. So you have friends over for drinks and have no ice.This happens close to once a month. The next problem was the door water dispenser wouldn't shut off. That required a $200 repair about a week after a year old. The next problem is that the ice maker freezes over. Again no ice and this requires DEFROSTING the ice maker. This has happened 4 times. I hadn't defrost a refrigerator in many decades and I don't intend to do it again. I'm buying a new refrigerator an it will NOT be a Samsung.

Ice Maker replaced multiple times, issues continue

The ice maker is a known problem. I have had 3 ice makers in the past 14 months and they all do the same thing. They slowly start leaking and then jam up with ice to the point the auger can't move. My last ice maker was replaced 10 days again and I looked today and guess, what?... It is leaking again and the ice is building back up .

We got this refrigerator about 2 years ago. After two years, it has lost its cooling power. At best it is cooling to 15 degrees Celsius. This is surprising and unacceptable. Look online for Samsung refrigerator losing cooling power or ice buildup, fan noise for Samsung refrigerators.

Bought my Samsung the end of May 2018. Never purchased a Samsung appliance before. I have been a fairly loyal Whirlpool fan. I have one (Whirlpool) still going strong 33 years later. Woke up this morning and thought someone was running a power-washer compressor outside. It was the freezer motor. 36 degrees in freezer. Bakery on top shelf totally defrosted. Condensation throughout. Savior was the two Yeti 4 pound ices that I had in there, and even they were melting. Totally emptied the freezer which gave the motor a ten minute rest. NOW it is working. That should NOT be the resolution! Never expected that a freezer would fail on any decent brand at 3 months. SO disappoointed since I really have been loving this frig until today. Let's see how Samsung backs their product!

Make sure you buy an extended warranty for this thing, because you will be using it OFTEN. We have owned this refrigerator for a year now and have had to have it serviced 3 times. Twice for the ice maker and once to replace the electrical panel. And I don't believe we just happened to get a lemon, because the service technician told me that these were all common problems that people have been having.

This is a well known problem with this refrigerator. Samsung even has the description of they symptoms of the problem (loud vibrating sound emanating from the refrigerator) in its online diagnostics. Samsung's response has been "It's out of warranty, you need to call a repair person and pay for it."

I only had this refrigerator 2 1/2 months before the ice maker had to be replaced. When that didn't work the tech was told by Samsung to "cut the rim for the icemaker off" which he did......it seemed to work but.......................3 months later water is leaking into the top of the unit and not making ice. It has a grinding noise when trying to dispense ice. I would NEVER recommend this product.

This refrigerator is just gorgeous and yes I will recommend this to anyone that have style, class and just appreciate the finer things in life. There will be no confusion as to where will I put this large ice cream or pizza because there is a separate draw for it so just enjoy . Now with the water dispenser, I really enjoy the water filter to give clean drinking water so just enjoy it.

Alot of nice features. Had a little bit of difficulty hooking up the ice maker water line due to the fitting that was installed on the fridge didn't mate up to the seating surface of the compression fitting I had bought at Lowe's. But got it to work by using a stainless steel line that has a rubber seating surface. Overall a really nice fridge and am enjoying it so far.

I like the fact you can have different settings for the refrigerator and the cool select pantry drawer and the fruit and veggie crisper drawers.i like the wider room i have than the side by side i can actually see what i have where before i would have food that expired cause i could not see that i had them.i do also like the lighting inside is much better than my past appliances.

Whatever you do, do not buy this refrigerator. I was replacing a 10+ year old refrigerator because it started to make noise. I purchased this Samsung refrigerator less than 9 months ago, and it already sounds like a rocket ship preparing for takeoff. If you are going to spend good money for a home appliance, I'd recommend not buying one this loud. I can hear it from 2 or 3 rooms away. Save your money and buy a better product from another manufacturer.
