Still getting used to the many features. Heats fast and evenly. I like the dual element feature. The only downside I have encountered is the venting system. The venting system will not draw steam from a tall pan or if pans are on the elements farthest away from the vent.

Great features on this new cooktop!

I upgraded to this cooktop a month ago. I had the other similar cooktop before. This model is different with the surface heating, even heating, ultra cooking heating which allows the temperature to be set exactly the way you want it to cook. It also has a melt or simmer feature. It cooks like a European cooktop! Food ready in minutes and cooked to perfection. Delicious food!!!! Excellent choice

POOR DESIGN!!

I totally dislike my new cooktop. Everything about it is what I would call a poor design. The burners are too close to each other. The big burner is on the back of the cooktop (wrong). The knobs are in my way when I cook and the downdraft vent is very hard to clean. The burners are hard to control the heat and I burn most everything. Even if the heat setting is on Med. water still boils. The cooktop scars easily even with water drops. I have to use ajax to clear the marks. I still have my old cooktop out in my garage and I am seriously thinking about having it reinstalled and tossing the new one into the trash. I bet this review gets trashed too.

Waste of money their quality has gone to crap!

It's meh at best. The fit and finish are bad. The trim isn't lined up properly (glued on permanently) so there's no way to fix it. The very first time we used it, it stained the cooktop surface we can't get it clean no matter what. Nice clean very high end pan used, no junk and it was clean and undamaged underneath. The downdraft is near useless. We replaced a 15 year old Kenmore Elite that the downdraft worked better on.

I am surprised 😳 . Kitchenaid is a big name in appliance world . Yet such a poor customer service. I bought Electric Downdraft Cooktop 36inches . Promotion said Installation and Haul away was free. My order was delivered after a month of wait period. I was expecting call from kitchenaid for installation . After waiting for a week I called and hold time was over 40 minutes. I was able to get a hold of representatives and they took my details and order no cooktop model and scheduled for installation. Installation guys show up on time and after seeing my cooktop they said they won™€™t install downdraft cooktop. I again called and waited to get to customer support for 40 mins , lady gave me 2 contracts /installer no to reach out for installation and both are not working on downdraft installation because they only do repairs. I don™€™t understand why kitchenaid sell this cooktop if they can™€™t support the installation. Very poor service extremely unprofessional. No one called to assist yet .

I wish I could give negative rating. Extremely poor customer service and very bad management. I bought Downdraft Electric Cooktop and Haul away and installed was advertised on website as free. Next thing I know that I should have asked the for installation when I bought the cooktop online. Not sure what does that mean. I might have called multiple times more than 15 times each time the hold period just over 35 to 40 minutes. No solution yet. Very frustrating customer service and support. Helpdesk doesn™€™t even know their options and gave the 2 Installer Contact Number to contact for installing , none of them does the installation for kitchenaid . Hopeless customer service

The worst stove, we have had it for a year now, first it had white stains, until it burst, it broke, we called the insurance company, we sent emails, and they haven't given us any kind of answer, the stove had a warranty and we also paid more for the warranty, and they don't want to help us with anything. It's the worst, I hope they can help us at some point, it didn't even last a year with us!

WORST RANGETOP EVER! Purchased for new construction. From day 1 terrible smell coming from vent. Clean filter and range daily, nothing helps. Paid contractor to replace outside vent, hoping it would help. Did not, still horrible smell comes from vent. It is not the filter, filter smells good, wash almost daily in Dawn detergent. We were so excited as this is our last build and wanted it to be perfect! This range top definitely disappointed us!

Had to replace very old downdraft and was hesitant about this item. Looks so sleek, bought a silicone cover and it increases my usable countertop space as long as I™€™m careful not to drop anything. Downdraft does a good job removing steam and odor, love the large choice of cooking elements. Very glad I replaced the old one and very pleased with this one!

I like the cook top very much. I did notice that the first time that I used the cooktop that a circle similar to a thin ring of tiny bubbles was left on the cook top, where the pots had been sitting on the burners. Even after the cook top cooled, the circles remained. I tried to remove the rings with a cook top cleaner, but the circles still remain. I hated that my new cook top was permanently marked. I had no pot above the medium setting, but still the ring was left.

Not loving it. Hate black top

Not totally happy. First of all I had to get a downdraft stove so as to not have to tear up floors during remodel. Hating the black top because it shows every speck of food, greese, etc- and DUST when not in use. And third, the very first time I used it, there were marks that I thought was just spills but won't come off. Also hard to clean in between knobs. Kudos on speed in which burners heat up. ( I can't seem to submit pics on phone but would love to have someone from kitchenaid contact me to discuss!

I would suggest a few things - if you do not plan on hooking this up to an external downdraft™€¦ you have to buy a set up to recirculate. Otherwise it just randomly blows air. I wish they would have mentioned needing more parts upon ordering because we found this out days before Thanksgiving. One of the temp regulated burners really just does boiling hot. But it is FAST so that™€™s nice.

Therefore, we had to change to a downdraft style which fit perfectly and has worked even better than expected. It looks great too. 36™€ downdraft cooktop

I just completed my remodeled inside of my house. I was stressed because my old cooktop used to be 30™€ electric downdraft jenn air. Looking for a replacement for downdraft was not easy. So thrilled and happy when my son saw this kitchen aid 36™€ downdraft electric cooktop, I knew I had to change my cooktop trom 30 to 36. I™€™m so happy with this new cooktop cuz it has 5 burners with a large, 12™€ burner. I do a lot of cooking. At first I got a little paranoid with the glass cooktop cuz it™€™s my first time having it. I kept thinking I™€™m going to scratch the glass. Now I have to make sure to use the right scrubber and the cleaner. My next door neighbor saw my cooktop, and she loves it. She went and replaced her old electric downdraft with the same one I got.

Very hard to find a 36™€ downdraft cooktop. This KitchenAid model is sleek, functional and addresses every cooking need. I especially like the oversize double burner. You do need quite a bit of undercounter space for the downdraft motor unit.

Miss my old KitchenAid cooktop

We bought this cooktop to replace a twenty year old KitchenAid cooktop that had a big crack in it. I must say that I liked the old cooktop better. The old one was easier to keep clean and looking nice since it wasn't solid black. Instead it had specks of white with the black. The burners were also easier to locate on the old one since they were outlined in white. The new cooktop is completely black and shows streaks really bad no matter how much I polish it. It is also sometimes depending on the lighting in the kitchen kind of hard to see where the burners are. I do like that it has five burners although it would be impossible to use all five at the same time since four of them are so close together. The burners do heat up faster on the new cooktop which of course is quite nice. I also do like the two even heat burners (one with simmer setting and the other one with melt setting.) The cooktop does look very sleek and modern.

Poor installation documentation

This rating is for the documentation. We are in the process of getting ready to install one of these units but the documentation is next to useless. All measurements are from the bottom of the countertop and should be from the top of the counter. Where the exhaust hole goes is affected by the thickness of the counter. A counter thickness of 3/4" is way different than a 2" counter when it comes to drilling a hole through a brick wall. No documentation on the Canadian site so need to refer to the US site. Lastly measurements on website in Canada need an accurate conversion, as 36 inches is not 9,233 cm.

I replaced my old, traditional, coil cooktop with this new 36" electric downdraft. There aren't many electric cooktops with a downdraft, which was concerning, but I love this model! I appreciate the different sized burners with specific heat settings. The down draft is very efficient and quiet. Clean up is is so easy!

We recently had to replace the Amana cooktop we had for over 25 years (when we built our house). We like how this cooktop heats so quickly. We also like the sleek appearance.

Smooth Top Downdraft

Needed to replace our 36™€ downdraft and found the Kitchenaid 36™€ downdraft would match perfectly with our Kitchenaid appliances. This unit requires a 40 amp service with larger wires than our 30 amp older unit. I upgraded the wires and can take full advantage of the 5 burners when needed. Very satisfied with the purchase.

Love the look of the unbroken cooktop surface, easy to care for. The 5 cook stations allow various dishes to be cooked simultaneously.

Bought this downdraft first off because i don not care for the pop up exhaust. Finding a large unit was a challenge. My other kitchen appliances are all KitchenAid so I fell very confident with the make. So far really liking the over size 5th burner. I am cautious of any drips and spills because even water on the cook top is an issue of a staining effect. All in all you can't go wrong. I hope it last as long as it's processor which was 24 years! Sure wish it came with a sample cleaning kit with the safe scrapper. I'm searching to find on Amazon today!

I bought this appliance one month ago, it was simple to assembly and easy to install, the best came later with its performance, food is quickly fixed with no issues due the vapors coming out , if something spills out of the pot it could be easily removed using conventional soap and soft sponge. Very Happy with this purchase...

Love the stove top but one problem

Love the stove top but one problem. I love the way it cooks but mine did not come with the metal strip at the bottom or the top. The piece you drop in for the downdraft has been a problem as the paint has peeled off. I had to pay $130 to replace this part. It seems that an inappropriate type of paint was used on it. I would like to know if there have been other problems with this. I was very disappointed that I had to pay For something that should™€™ve lasted more than a little over two years. The paint should not have peeled off. I would appreciate it if you would contact me at Lanelh@att.net. I love the stove top but have been very disappointed with the paint quality on the downdraft. If this is not rectified I would not recommend this to anyone as it looks terrible. I would recommend to a friend if this problem was rectified

I bought this for a kitchen update and to replace a stove top that was down to 1-2 burners. I love the way it makes my island look. It is great to have several working burners. It has been easy to clean, once I found the recommended cleaner.
