My last GE Profile cooktop lasted over 25 years. The burners were having issues so I decided to replace it. This works amazingly well. It™™s easy to ignite and so far all works well. I hope it lasts at least 20 years!! Grates look good and easy to clean. Simmer control and heat distribution work well.

I had the older version of this cooktop and I liked it a lot better.
The new unit the gas hookup has been moved so now I have to have my cabinet underneath reworded so I can use it. Next, the knobs on my old unit were solid metal and the new ones are plastic. I not sure I like the redesign look but I haven™™t gotten to use it yet because the one they came to install wasn™™t flush in the front. They told me this is another issue they are seeing lately. Goes to show nothing is built as a quality product anymore. For being the top of the line for this product line, not impressed and probably will explore other options.

Gas cooktop vs electric

The gas cooktop works perfectly and looks good. It has a utilitarian look as if designed for a restaurant kitchen and some people might not like that look. We have both gas and electric cooktops in our homes and the gas cooktop, while not as sleek, has some operational advantages. For example, the grill top cools down faster than an electric cooktop

This cooktop works great, heats up quickly, fairly easy to clean. We use the griddle pan frequently. It has a lovely sleek look as well. However, the plastic heat controls are an abomination. Very easily damaged, and ridiculously expen$$$ive to replace. They are plastic and should be $15, not $70.

I liked the look of this cooktop bit sadly the burnerS areto close to the knobs and these are made of plastic and they have melted. I have purchased many to replace them and gain I am here to order more™¦. Also indicator light fell inside and you can™™t pull it out.

I have a GE Profile30" Built-In Gas Cooktop with 5 Burners (model PGP7030SLSS) which in a few months has completely lost all labels. On the website they recommend using a specific product for cleaning (Cerama Bryte) however, the labels were (I believe) poorly printed and everything was wiped clean including the GE Logo. The Gas stove is now left with no indication how to operate, where to ignite, which knob corresponds to which burner, direction to turn, nothing. It has happened already that the wrong knob was manipulated leaving gas opened and leaking for short period of time(fortunately!) but still raising safety concerns in my family, particularly considering that is a product relatively new (8 months of use and still under the year warranty). The product is used for indoor home cooking like any regular family, and we strongly believe that such products should provide clear indicators, labels that assist the operation given the inherent risk of the
burning gas and the involuntary gas leak that may occur given the current situation. Looking for assistance from customer or product support, the concern has been dismissed as a cosmetic issue, and no resolution can be provided. The agent informed that there is no repair available and made the ridiculous suggestion to manipulate the gas stove while checking the image on the internet or print the picture as guidance.
Fortunately, nobody has been hurt so far but having this product at home has become a health and safety concern for which we have been requiring a solution but no response so far.

This is the second GE profile cooktop we have had and I should™™ve known better than to get another one. While the gas burners function well the labels on controls come off with simple cleaning of the range and it™™s ridiculous.

The cooktop comes with plastic knobs, the placement is such that it is very easy for them to come in contact with hot metal pans. Which melts the plastic. When we complained, customer service vice said that they will gladly sell us metal replacements at $21 each.
Also the numbers around the knobs on the metal surface of the cooktop easily rubs off. The only way to fix it, is to buy a new metal top for over $120.

You have to be super aware that when you remove the grates, and put them back in place- it™™s easy to scratch the stainless finish.
There is not enough protection on the feet- this is a ™Premium price™ cooktop. I don™™t know what they would design this , without thinking of this.
My old kitchen aid cooktop- had better protection and a rating was not an issue.

Big complaint is the ™high low™ marking by the dial is only ink, it comes off. It should have been engraved. But other than that it works well.

While this burner was delivered and installed and looks wonderful, I am disappointed in the quality of the cooktop range's knobs. Two knobs within two weeks have already melted when cooking on this range. The product is out of stock until February 2026 and it is noted that many others have had the same issue with this plastic knob part. I have requested warranty replacement but if they are going to melt this fast after two weeks, I'll never have a nice looking product in my kitchen.

The lettering for high/med/low, etc around the dials began disappearing after only 2 months of use. GE refused to acknowledge that it is a bad product. Told me I knew what was around the dials, so I don't need the lettering. Other than looking bad, the product works well so far.

I™™ve been using this GE gas cooktop for a while, and overall I™™m very satisfied. The burners provide strong, consistent flame and heat up quickly, which makes cooking much faster and more efficient. I really like the layout of the burners™"there™™s plenty of space for multiple pans without feeling cramped.

Very disappointed in the product. The quality of the product is very bad comparted to the unit it replaced after 8 years. The reason we had to purchase a new unit is that we experienced a gas explosion when a burner was lite. The main safety feature of the child proof control knob has been eliminated. The unit is about a half inch taller than the original unit so the new unit sticks above the countertop by the half inch. The cooktop is mounted above an oven. Probably not a way to lower the oven. A gridle came with the original unit, no gridle for this new one.

Absolutely awful. We just put a brand new kitchen in our home in May and went with this because we loved the grill top. Turns out that grill and merely cleaning this cooktop, have completely destroyed the appliance! Knobs melted, our cleaning lady let out such a shriek on her first cleaning to find that by moving the grill top carefully the scuffed up the whole cooktop! Frankly, we are mortified because we have all GE products and this was the cornerstone of the kitchen and I want to cry every time I use it because it looks awful!! It cooks okay but not good enough to make up for the shoddy quality. We are getting rid of all of it when we can afford to and will never buy them again. Sad, this was my Moms favorite brand too. Our washer/dryer, our water softener all GE. But when you spend good money on a kitchen you want it to last and this is crap!!

The kitchen in my last house was total GE. My new house had a competitor brand until I began changing out appliances. Now with the installation of this gorgeous cooktop, this house is also total GE. The quality is evident even in the knobs. The configuration of the burners makes sense and it's easy to clean, looks great and a great addition to my kitchen.

Just a little bit after one year of installation (1 year warranty), burners started clicking and light by the power boil burner remains on. I cleaned all the igniters as I did with my old one, but this time the problem doesn™™t go away. Also the knobs are made of plastic which for the price paid is not worth it. Don™™t buy it. Unless you are not going to use it.

Really wanted to purchase this cooktop, had JenAir previously but love my GE oven and wanted to go all GE but the reviews are terrible due to melting knobs, who needs that.
Purchased KitchenAid instead, all steel knobs, could have gone with Maytag but would have lost the 5th burner on a 30" cook top.

We replaced our 21 year old GE Profile cooktop with this model. I'm not super impressed. The stainless steel surface scratched within days of install (and continues to scratch easily). One of the knob's partially melted within the first few uses (the large skillet was too close to the knob). If you use the center burner at the same time as one of the other burners, the edges of the pots get too hot and scorch the contents of what's being cooked. The grills are super heavy, plus crumbs / seasonings which fall around the foot cushions where the grills rest are challenging to clean, I need a toothpick to get those small bits as a rag just doesn't do it. Also, if burners are turned down to the lowest setting too slowly the flame goes out (it's happened multiple times).

The range cooks very well, My issue is with the quality of the knobs. They are made of plastic and melt. I would rather pay up for some actual stainless steel knobs. If I purchase replacements will they also melt? Also, the black lettering has come off the cooktop. For these reasons I do not think I can recommend this rangetop. I have other GE profile appliances that I am happy with. When we built our house I was excited to get all GE profile applicance.

The burners are functional as expected; however, I would not buy again nor recommend this product. The stainless steel is so soft that the points where the grates rest are very easily scratched. My husband and I are the only ones using the cooktop and we are always careful to gently clean after each use. We have never used anything even slightly abrasive on this stainless steel yet it scratches so easily. The knobs do not tolerate heat and will deform if anything hot from the oven touches the knob, even briefly. We installed the cooktop in March of 2022 and have multiple small scratches and a cosmetically defective knob. That is saying very little for a newer product that gets little use.
